"I wanted to create something that could be passed on from one generation to another," says founder Aarushi Kilawat. Growing up in the small town of Beawar, Rajasthan, she fell in love with India's rich textile heritage — and saw it slipping away. In 2017, she founded The Loom Art to change that, partnering with over 20 weaver clusters from the silk looms of Benaras to the Kantha embroiderers of Bengal. The result is a slow fashion brand that gives voice to India's artisan communities, turning centuries-old crafts like Kantha, Sujini, and Arashi Shibori into wearable works of art.
